Move in the flow of the universe and follow your intuition with faith. If you feel called to come to India and experience authentic yoga, philosophy and culture, then do what you feel called to do and you get a happier, healthier and more prosperous life.
Yoga’s history holds some uncertainty due to its tradition of oral teachings from a guru to student. Yoga can be traced back to over 5,000 years ago in India. The word yoga was first mentioned in, the Rig Veda, the oldest sacred texts. The Vedas were a collection of texts containing much more than just asanas like mantras and rituals. Yoga masters created a system of practices designed to rejuvenate the body and prolong life. They embraced the physical body as a vessel to achieve enlightenment. These spiritual body practices led to what we mainly think of yoga in the West which is Hatha Yoga.
The word Yoga means ‘unity’ and in forming this union we become something greater than we once were. This feeling of union often gets overshadowed by the drama of everyday life. We get caught up in the material, the routine, and we miss observing the magic that exists in everything like experiences and people. We came here to learn universal love. We did not come here to learn how to be perfect because we already are. We came to be humans with flaws and then rise again into remembering. Yoga does not require the condition of perfect. It only asks us to show up and do our best. Stay present and feel fully.
